At the breakfast table with... Sophie Bertrand
Sophie has given us a little insight into how she starts her day and we hope you enjoy reading!
1. First off, we’d love to know a little more about what your job is! Where you work, what you do and why you love it!
After finishing my Masters degree in September 2017, I started my business in January 2018 and decided to go at it full time in October 2018. There are so many things I love about my job and running my own business has given my the flexibility to apply myself to so many different roles in the industry. I have worked on a consultancy basis with leading brands such as Tesoc’s, Alpro and Ryvita and I also work with clients in a 1-1 setting at the Rhitrition clinic on Harley St to help them cultivate a non restrictive diet and develop a healthy relationship with food.
2. What is the first thing you do when you get up on a morning?
Stretch!
3. Do you have a morning routine leading up to when you start work? If so, what does it look like?
Yes, I get up and shower and get ready for the day. I then make time to have a breakfast that doesn’t make me feel rushed… even if it means getting up a little earlier!
4. What is a typical choice for breakfast for you?
I am definitely a sweet person so it is usually a bowl of oats with yummy toppings or a yoghurt bowl
5. Is there anything you do on a morning to help the rest of the day run smoothly and minimise how stressful it might be?
Make time to eat breakfast!
6. When lockdown is over, where will you be heading for brunch?!
When things are back to normal, I am looking forward to heading into London for a matcha latte and a granola bowl!
7. Your area of expertise is of course nutrition, if you had to summarise your favourite thing about working in nutrition, what would it be… in one sentence!
Helping people to fall in love with food again.
8. We love a nosey into other kitchens… what’s your favourite part of your kitchen and what do you enjoy cooking the most?
I use my hob a lot and I love frying up a veggie stir fry! Veg in avocado oil is delicious!
9. Morning mantra…do you use a little quote or saying to give you a little motivation on a morning?
I always remind myself of the things I DO have – Just simple things like clean running water and fresh food in the fridge are things that people take for granted and I like to remain grateful for these simple things that have such a huge impact on our life.
10. Finally, who is your dream breakfast guest, dead or alive, and why?
Oh wow, tough question! If I could have anyone it would be my Grandpa who isn’t with us anymore. I could fill him in on life!
